Review

You could tell when this album came out that Mutt was about to leave. He didn't sit at the controls and produce this one, but he co-wrote every song for the third album in a row and copped an executive producer credit. The album leads off with a typical Leppard song in the teen anthem idealized "Let's Get Rocked" and then moves on to the more Leppard-trodden path of sex mixed with love songs with "Heaven Is". After that, they try to see if the public will let them have what might be considered offensive lyrics in the "Sugar"-like "Make Love Like A Man". They follow that with the albums first ballad, "Tonight", which is an atipycal power ballad, but a good one nonetheless. Then comes the unofficial tribute to Steve Clark in "White Lightning" which opens with a 1 minute long solo with a lone guitar, which is the part of the 7 minute long song which gives away that it's a tribute, along with the lyrics that is. Then comes one of Def Leppard's best songs, a signature power ballad named "Stand Up". After that comes a filler track "Personal Property" which is followed by the third ballad, "Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad". "I Wanna Touch U" follows that well by being a power ballad the same way "Photograph" is (a mixture of that and pop-metal). "Tear It Down" is a b-side from Hysteria and it's easy to tell why. Another masterpiece of five stars out of five.
